CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR ELECTRIC GOLF CART

Your electric golf cart isn’t just a way to get from A to B — it’s basically your four-wheeled sidekick. So, of course it needs a little TLC to keep it running smoothly. For this, some regular care goes a long way. In this article, we’ll walk you through the simple maintenance tips that’ll keep your cart cruising along like new, and maybe even save you from an unexpected “stuck on the green” moment.

TIP #1: Tyre pressure

Proper tyre pressure is 18-22 PSI

TIP #2: Cleaning instructions

  • The cart should be washed at least bi-weekly, or as conditions warrant.
  • The exterior of the car should be washed with a gentle soap and water solution. Abrasive cleansers and washcloths should be avoided.
  • Windshields should be cleaned with a mild soap and water. Over spray from chemicals used to clean the dash or cowl should be avoided. Do not use alcohol or ammonia-based cleaners.
  • If you use a high-pressure washer, we recommend a maximum of 750 psi when washing a vehicle. Automotive finishes are limited to 700 psi. Please be careful where you direct the spray. High-pressure water should be directed to the external components only, not to internal components such as seals or bearings, engine, or wheels. It is recommended that a hose be used under the seat.

TIP #3: Monthly checks

Monthly checks to do at home or at your local E-Z-GO dealer:

  • Inspect wiring for loose connections and broken or missing hardware.
  • Check steering for excess play and loose or missing hardware.
  • Check tie rods for excess play, bent rods, and loose or missing hardware.
  • Inspect front suspension strut for leaks. Check hubs and kingpins for excessive play, worn bushings, and loose or missing hardware.
  • Check rear axle for leakage, and add oil as required.
  • Check front wheel alignment for unusual wear and tear and adjust if necessary.
  • Check rear suspension for shock oil leakage, worn bushings, and loose or missing hardware.
  • Replace rear axle fluid.

TIP #4: Storage instructions

  • Turn the key to the OFF position and remove the key from the switch.
  • Check the Run-Tow switch under the seat, make sure it is set in the RUN position.
  • Turn off all accessories.
  • The optimum storage temperature range is between 18⁰ and 28⁰ celsius.
  • When storing your cart in a cold climate, fully charge the battery module. Make sure that the charging operation is complete and there are no faults displayed on the charger. The green light on the charger should be on indicating the charge cycle is complete.
  • When storing your cart in a hot climate, store the cart with a 30% to 50% charge of battery pack capacity.
